What The Frog?
What The Frog? is a visual essay that investigates the cultural heritage and ownership of the frog. After wanting to post a frog emoji - a have symbol that has recently come to represent white supremacy - I found myself reconsidering whether that was a sensible thing to do. Together with Marcis Lapins we investigated how the frog became an international hate symbol, appropriated by alt right politicians and their supporters. We mapped out the frog’s iconographic evolution on a big sticky tongue. First as a poster, now as a website.
